GOCE Project - Extreme Engineering
GOCE is the first of a series of ESA's Earth Explorer satellites. GOCE was launched on 17 March 2009. SSF was responsible for the implementation of the GOCE platform application software PASW. This on-board S/W controls all of the functions of the satellite and handles the communication between the ground station and the platform. The DFAC is the highest level layer of the PASW and in addition to the complex management of the external unit control, it is responsible for the mode management related to the high-precision attitude and orbit control. DFAC relies completely on the DHS services when it needs to communicate with the external units.
