In the near future, all new cars will be equipped with new safety equipment. In case of an accident, the equipment will inform rescue workers of the crash site's exact whereabouts among with other critical information, thus cutting the response time remarkably.Both EU and Russia are currently preparing to roll out their own road emergency services. The European system is called eCall and the Russian equivalent is named ERA-GLONASS. These systems will be harmonized to work as a single road safety solution that covers both regions seamlessly. ERA-GLONASS should be operational already by 2014 and eCall by 2015, after which it is mandatory for car manufacturers to gradually install the safety equipment into new vehicles. In addition to the line-fit equipment, retro-fit solutions will be available for those who want voluntarily to increase their road safety.
